In today’s day and age, where we have journeyed together, generation after generation, through all sorts of eras wherein mass illnesses and diseases were present, we have forged through with strength and determination during those tumultuous times.
Unfortunately, in reality, research advancements in healthcare take time, and the only way not to brush it under the carpet would be for people to talk more about those diseases and illnesses and spread awareness so that others can gain insights into the size and range of affected demographics, and find some answers in seeking temporary relief by short-term procedures or treatment options until a cure is found.
In female healthcare or women’s health, some diseases and illnesses affect women but have no cure creating a gender gap in awareness and knowledge. Endometriosis in women’s reproductive health can be one such example. Therefore, in this article, we shall go over the importance of spreading awareness among the female demographic along with the fascinating and determined women duo who never gave up and pushed on to come up with a solution to help these women all over the world.
The Women Duo:
Dana Mihal Aronovici from Berlin, Germany – underwent a painful personal experience that affected her at 15 years old. This motivated and inspired Dana to start her journey in developing a platform with the use of AI in tech to create a community-like support network that brings together women who are affected by Endometriosis to spread awareness and seek medical advice from professionals and experts, rather than committing to choices that would more or less affect them even worse or leave them stranded.
Therefore, Dana joined a start-up – Entrepreneur First program where she met an equally interested and motivated business-woman – Luise Müller, who shared the understanding of the need for an awareness-sharing platform for their beloved ‘Endo-Fighters’, intending to bridge the gender gap for the lesser known female health condition. In the year 2022, the women duo banded together and successfully founded a digitalized consultation platform located in Berlin – FemXX Health, for women affected by the same Endometriosis disease so that collective information and knowledge can be shared alongside expert advice.
What is Endometriosis? It is a disease that affects women’s reproductive health. Women who start their regular periods typically from the ages of 12+ and sometimes even 10+ are susceptible to Endometriosis at any age afterward. The indications of Endometriosis that are commonly seen do not tend to show right away but slowly and progressively show symptoms as they enter young adulthood – typically early or mid-twenties.
If and when checked in with a medical professional and undergone tests after a good consultation, the symptoms can be diagnosed and found to be Endometriosis. However, one cannot think that they have Endometriosis even with some commonly seen indicators of the disease as it can be easily misjudged. The only way to confirm Endometriosis is to undergo a Laparoscopy Surgery. The commonly seen symptoms can either indicate a woman potentially has Endometriosis or can just show underlying indications of common symptoms that arise from a completely different causative factor.
The symptoms that are commonly seen with Endometriosis are as follows – severe pain causing abdominal cramps before or during a period cycle, pain during and after sexual intercourse, digestive issues, irregularity and absent period cycles, heavy period cycles, mental changes of depression and anxiety, spotting during ovulation or non-period cycles, tiredness, fertility issues, and bladder issues. The symptoms that are similar to other different causative factors that can be misjudged for Endometriosis are as follows – Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), and Cysts, Myomas, and Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).
FemXX Health:
Founded in the year 2022, co-founders – Luise Müller and Dana Mihal Aronovici, created a digitalized healthcare platform – FemXX Health with AI for their ‘Endo’Fighters’ to come together as a community so that they can learn more about the knowledge and information pertaining Endometriosis as well as understand and support one another in their journey.
Medical advice from professionals and experts, self-help and peer support groups, counseling for mental and physical health, and collective insights are shared on the platform from all Endometriosis-diagnosed women and presently-diagnosed women. To provide these women with a user-centric experience in supporting the cause and awareness for each other in the best way possible, was what Dana and Luise had envisioned when starting FemXX Health.
To Conclude: Concerning limited knowledge and awareness, and information required to comprehend what is going on, patient experiences, if they are the only ones going through this ordeal, why they have it, and if anything can be done to treat and cure them, many women face these problems in feminine health. In 2022, Luise Müller and Dana Mihal Aronovici co-founded the platform – FemXX Health in Berlin, Germany for women who have been diagnosed with Endometriosis. The platform helps in providing the required and necessary support networks regarding information, knowledge, women’s advocacy, insights, and advice from medical and professional experts, and support groups.
